We were back at Leadbetter Beach this evening, photographing the 12th week of the 18 week Summer Sunset Series. Images are being processed and should be available for viewing on our site late Wednesday evening. Santa Barbara Kids Triathlon - July 20, 2008

Helping to raise funds for TACA - Talking About Curing Autism, the Santa Barbara Kids Triathlon will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Dos Pueblos High School. Kids between the ages of 7 and 15 will compete in one of two events, Juniors (ages 7-10) or Seniors (ages 11-15). The Juniors will swim 100 Meters, Bike 5K and run 1K while the Seniors do a 200 Meter swim, 10K bike and 2K run.
Santa Barbara Pix will be at the start/finish and along the course photographing the event. Images will be posted on our site by Sunday evening. Standard print sizes will be available for purchase as will a Commemorative 5×7 print showing the event logo and the distance for each event. (For a sample of the commemorative photo - click here).

71st Annual Semana Nautica 15k Run

SantaBarbaraPix is proud to be photographing the 2008 Semana Nautica 15K on July 19, 2008 in Santa Barbara, California. The Santa Barbara Semana Nautica Association is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote athletic and recreational activity in Santa Barbara by holding a series of mostly athletic events every summer. They expect thousands of participants this year from Santa Barbara and other communities in California and neighboring states. They encourage participants and spectators to be a part of what they believe is the largest and longest running festival of its kind in the U.S. Santa Barbara’s annual sports festival includes activities such as ocean swimming, age group and masters swimming, fishing, water polo, volleyball, beach biathlon, 15k road race, cycling, sailing, lawn bowling, spearfishing, adaptive paddling, tennis, water polo, inline hockey, basketball, gymnastics, softball, semipro baseball, tug-of-war and the perennial favorite, the Krazy Kardboard Kayak Race! They also sponsor an annual Summer Art Show, which is exhibited at the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center, 1118 Cabrillo Boulevard. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome and admission is always free for spectators.

Ventura Splash & Dash

Santa Barbara Pix was at the 2nd in the series of 4, Splash~N~Dash competitions in Ventura on Saturday. We are processing the photos and they should be posted in the next 24 hours. The over-all winner of the long course was Brittany Day from Santa Paula with a time of 37:49. She was followed by Geoffrey Griffiths from Los Angeles with a time of 41:31.
The Sprint event was won by Charlotte Gaughan of Los Angeles with a time of 23:57. She was followed by Darryl Priest from Camarillo in 24:13.

Photos of the Carpinteria Beach Classic All Star Softball Tournament

Mike, Karli McAllister, and I were out shooting in the blazing heat Friday and Saturday photographing the 2008 Carpinteria Beach Classic All Star Softball Tournament in Carpinteria, California. As luck would have it, everyone had to endure record temperatures while enjoying the tournament.
SantaBarbaraPix is fortunate to have Karli McAllister shooting for us this weekend. Karli brings a unique perspective to softball photography, and her photojournalistic skills give her images that extra ‘oomph’ that we hope you enjoy!

Games will be played at the following three venues: El Carro Park, Carpinteria High School, and Viola Fields in Carpinteria. The 2008 Ventura Splash N Dash will take place on the following dates: Sunday June 22, Saturday July 12, Saturday August 16, and Sunday Sept 14. All the race events start at 9:00 AM.
